How to Polish Your Bathroom Faucets

Faucets are small, but can make a big impact in your bathroom’s overall look and feel. Keeping them clean, shiny, and in working order takes some effort, but it isn't an impossible task.

With the right tools and techniques, even the most worn out faucets can be polished back to their original shine, saving you money on replacements down the road. Here are a few easy tips to help you polish your bathroom faucets.

Use Toothbrush & Mild Dish Soap

If your faucet is starting to look a little dull, don’t worry – there’s an easy way to get it shining like new again. All you need is a toothbrush and some mild dish soap.

Dip the brush in the soap, then scrub away any accumulated dirt or grime from the surface of the faucet. Rinse off with water, and dry thoroughly with a clean cloth or paper towel.

Apply Vinegar & Water Solution

Start by mixing equal parts white vinegar and water in a bowl. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant and will help remove any build-up on your faucets. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and wring it out so that it's damp, not dripping wet.

Rub the cloth over the faucet, using circular motions. Be sure to get into all the nooks and crannies. Rinse the faucet with clean water when you're finished.

Use Toothpaste

One great way to clean and polish your bathroom faucets is to use toothpaste! All you need to do is put a small amount of toothpaste on a soft cloth and rub it all over the faucet. You'll be amazed at how well this works to remove any dirt or buildup of faucets. Just be sure to rinse the faucet off afterwards with some warm water.

Rinse It Off with Lemon Juice

If you want to return your bathroom faucets to their former glory, they can be brought back by applying lemon juice to them. A mixture of water and 1 spoon of lemon juice is sufficient. Just add a little amount of the same solution to your faucet every day after cleaning it with soap and hot water until it gets polished up.

Use Soft Wipes

Using hard wipes and scrubbing your bathroom faucets can actually damage the finish on your bathroom faucets. The abrasives in hard wipes can cause scratches and even small holes in the nickel plating that covers a lot of bathrooms faucets. Thus, it is always better to use soft wipes and be gentle with your faucets

Remove Tough Stains with Alcohol

If you have tough stains on your bathroom faucets, rubbing alcohol can be a great way to remove them. Simply apply some rubbing vodka to a soft cloth and rub the stain in a circular motion.

You may need to apply some elbow grease, but the stain should eventually come off. If the stain is particularly stubborn, you can try using a toothbrush to scrub it off.

Apply Baking Soda Paste

With some baking soda, you can have your faucets shining in no time! Make a paste out of baking soda and water. Rub this onto your faucets with a soft cloth. Let the paste sit for a few minutes, and then rinse it off with warm water.

Conclusion

All in all, small jobs like this add up to a big difference when you work on the faucets every day. Plus, it's easier to do than you might think and doesn't take much time at all. With these simple steps, your bathroom faucets will look gleaming brand new.
